**Introduction (10 minutes):**
1. Explain that names given to people can be divided into two groups: common nouns and proper nouns.
- Common Noun: A general name for a person, place, or thing (e.g., "teacher," "doctor").
- Proper Noun: A specific name for a person, place, or thing (e.g., "Ms. Smith," "Dr. Brown").
2. Illustrate with examples on the board. For example:
- Common Noun: student, city, dog
- Proper Noun: John, New York, Rover
**Activity 1: Flashcard Sorting (10 minutes):**
1. Prepare flashcards with a mix of common nouns and proper nouns (e.g., “boy,” “girl,” “Mr. Jones,” “Dr. Lee”).
2. Divide the class into small groups and give each group a set of flashcards.
3. Ask the students to sort the flashcards into two piles: common nouns and proper nouns.
